Go Hamraborg!

Hamraborg Festival is a multidisciplinary artist-run art festival with a particular focus on visual arts, site-specific works, performance art and social engagements.

Hamraborg Festival is an annual festival that has been held since 2021 in Hamraborg, Kópavogur.

The festival grew out of Midpunkt: the artist-run exhibition space operating since 2018 in Hamraborg.

The festival is sponsored by the Art and Culture Council of Kópavogur, Visual Art Fund and Barnamenningarsjóður.

This year, the festival will take place from August 29 to September 5, 2024.

All exhibitions will be open for 7 days (August 29 - September 5).

A program filled with various events, performances, concerts and workshops awaits us. All festival exhibitions and events will take place in culture houses, public places, cafes, shops and offices located in Hamraborg, the heart of Kópavogur.

In August 2022 we published a book dedicated to Hamraborg.

Með Hamraborgir á Heilanum, is a book dedicated to the only true city in Iceland: Hamraborg.

The writers that have contributed were all inspired by different aspects of Hamraborg, the place and the concept.

They are Kamilla Einarsdóttir, Tyrfingur Tyrfingsson, Eiríkur Örn Norðdahl, Ásta Fanney Sigurðardóttir, Alexander Dan Vilhjálmsson, Björk Þorgrímsdóttir, Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir, Emil Hjörvar Petersen and Eva Rún Snorradóttir.
